What ships with multiplayer
- 12 new 6v6 maps at launch. Map names and layouts are added here as they are confirmed in game.
- Shared weapon pool with DMZ — the same guns, but separate progression. Ranking up in one mode does not rank you up in the other.
- No Zombies mode. The confirmed lineup is three modes: Campaign, Multiplayer and DMZ. Community reports indicate there is no Zombies mode at launch.
Zombies, DMZ and multiplayer — which is which
Three modes, three different rules. Campaign is scripted. Multiplayer is round based and reset every match. DMZ is extraction: you take gear in, and you lose it if you do not get out. Confusing the three is the most common reason new players bounce off DMZ.

When does MW4 multiplayer come out?
Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Battle.net and Steam) and Switch 2. Multiplayer opens with the full launch on that date on every platform.
Can I play MW4 multiplayer right now?
Not yet. Campaign early access opened on October 16 and DMZ early access opened on October 20, but multiplayer opens with the full launch on October 23.
Does multiplayer progress carry over to DMZ?
Weapons and loadouts are shared between the two modes, but progression and unlocks are tracked separately. Nothing you earn in DMZ levels your multiplayer rank, and vice versa.
